We have been to Vegas and saw Cirque du Soleil - "Beatles Love". It was spectacular. Our adventures after that was a dive in Hoodsport...once again the cold waters of the Hood Canal didn't disappoint. We finished up the building of the house, moved everything in and then went to Mexico for a week.
Playa del Carmen was wonderful. We stayed in a resort with stucco buildings thatched roofs. The resort was all-inclusive so the food and drinks were unlimited. The waters of the Carribean really are a light turquoise and warm. We had a great time...shopping, sightseeing, jetskiing on the ocean, parasailing, visiting the ruins at Tulum, rappeling and last but not least the ziplines. Oh and the margaritas and swim up bars were not too shabby either. It was well worth it and I am ready to go back.
Upon our return, we unpacked, landscaped and Jenni got married. We took our annual trek to Seattle, attending the drag races and checking out the "Bite of Seattle", had a couple of camping/jetskiing trips to Prineville and Detroit, and finished the landscaping.
We added a new puppy to our family, she is a beagle and her name is Seven. Football season has come and that along with Seven and a trip down to Lake Shasta has kept us extremely busy.
We had a housewarming/Halloween/Tracy's Birthday party on the 31st of October and had a rockin' good time.
We have not attending any SCA events this entire year that I can recall, but we are planning to attend 12th Night and revisit this aspect of recreation next year.

Okay, so this guy is so lame. On top of having a plethora of excuses as to why they couldn't get over to the house to get the work done or why they had to pull off early, they...
Mixed the rocks from the trench in with some dirt that had to be pulled from the garage when it was too frozen rendering the pile of dirt unusable...in other words, he didn't haul the extra rock away. Jerk!
He "bumped" the house beneath the window of the spare bedroom with the bucket of the bobcat when they were doing the backfill. They didn't say anything to us about it but one of the batts was broken in half and on the ground and the board was scraped. No big right? We held a batt back to make the repair ourselves. Terry said they are lucky they didn't put the bucket through the wall.
We had a 60' pipe for the sprinkler system they said they would bury with the backfill...didn't happen. I got to dig the trench last Saturday to set it and then cover it over.
We had three 10' long 4" conduit that was supposed to be buried in the main trench that ran under the driveway so we could ruth the sprinkler pipe through it. Only buried two and both ends would have been under the driveway. More digging...only this time through packed 3/4 minus gravel and dirt.
Qwest came out to pull the lines and set up the phone. The cord won't pull. Turns out the excavator didn't complete the trench by taking it to the "bucket" where the wires are for the phone. Looks like we will get to do that now.
Oh and then we spent 8 hours last weekend finishing the backfill that the excavator was supposed to do. Yes...it was a very busy weekend.
Now over the weekend Terry and I had noticed the wall in the center bedroom was bowed and we thought what a wonderful framing job...when they go to run the trim it is going to look like crap. Well, the finish carpenter was setting trim yesterday and asked the superintendent if he had a moment...So remember the comment about the bucket "bumping the house"? Lets put two and two together...when they bumped the house, they bumped a cripple stud (a short one)under the window and pushed it about a half an inch off the sill plate.
Now there is a hole at the base of the wall under the window exposing the stud that got moved and they are going to have to get it pounded back into place, new sheetrock, texture and we are going to have to paint again.
Yeah...this excavator is a real winner. By the time all of this is done, we are not going to owe him, he is going to owe us. We will likely back charge him for the removal of the rock, rental of a bobcat to finish the backfill plus 8 hrs of labor, rental of whatever equipment we use plus labor to run the trench for the phone, PLUS whatever the cost to repair the house from their little accident!
I will be so glad when this is done!

It has just been coming down...Snow...snow and more snow. The depth f the snow over at the new house just amazes me. I think we are between 20 and 24 inches out there now. And to think all the snow was gone two weeks ago and it was just icey ground that would give way to mud after the sun was on it for a few hours.
The house is coming along. The roof is done, the electrical is in, the plumbing is in and they are working on the gas. The garage still has snow in areas and a layer of ice on the dirt. The contractor needs to get in there, break up the ice and dirt so that it can get backfilled and the slab poured...we suggested a tarp across the front and heaters to thaw things out, but the contractor seems to think it would cost too much. Hmmmm, they are quick to tell us we need to get the gas and electrical hooked up so they can drywall and that we had better not hold them up, but they can't drywall until this slab is done otherwise there will be too much moisture from the exposed ground. I hope they don't think we are going to crank the heat on once it is hooked up so that they can thaw out the garage...not happening!
Jamie is back in the states and has been at her mom's for the past few weeks. She flies in to PDX tomorrow afternoon. Terry is dead-set on driving over to meet her flight (scheduled for 3:30pm arrival) and to drive her down to Keizer and then drive back home. The Santiam Pass is closed right now due to snow slides and they expect it will be closed until this afternoon and maybe longer. We are supposed to have another heavy storm coming in tonight/tomorrow. I am thinking that I would prefer to stay home this weekend and then drive over next weekend if the weather is better. We will see.
